Position Summary:

This is a key role within the organisation whose primary function is to manage clients through all aspects of the software delivery and maximise client revenue potential on an ongoing basis. It is the role of the AM to ensure profitable and happy customers.

Manage the client facing aspects of all the software delivery which will entail excellent client and internal communication and relationships with key teams who will be responsible for delivery of the product for the client.

Maximise revenue potential of Chartwell and exert as much control as possible over our revenue, within the parameters of our business model, through upselling, operational advice and guidance and general relationship management and business savvy.

Primary Roles / Responsibilities:

Manage software provision to Clients

  • Manage the client facing aspects of the delivery of Chartwell’s software from the commencement of the launch project and for the duration of the client life.
  • Work with project managers, product development, implementation teams in Calgary to ensure smooth process and results to clients including new client launch projects, client upgrades, patch deployments, escalated support issues, new feature releases
  • Manage clients through change request management process which incorporates all changes to the system however small (eg. Feature change) or large (eg. Custom product development)
  • Follow agreed corporate processes including Client Development Process, Software Development Process, project delivery process
  • Manage client expectations and perceptions of Chartwell
  • Act as the single/key point of contact from all Chartwell departments to the client.

Client Relationships

  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients – which entails respect, ability to deliver, having the right contacts, and general social activities.
  • Hold regular meetings – for general management purposes as well as higher level strategic, directional meetings to ensure that clients are aware of and interested in new features, products. All meetings to be tracked with meeting minutes/notes issues within 48 hours of every meeting
  • Arrange initial and ongoing client training with the Corporate Trainer.
  • Stay on top of client support issues and requirements – so as to manage the clients expectations and also internal delivery schedules.

Client, Market and Business Intelligence and Communication

  • Business intelligence – identify common problems, requirements, trends across multiple clients and the industry at large, and communicate these to non-client facing teams in Calgary as appropriate.
  • Internal reporting and communication using all process and reports including distribution fo the Client Matrix
  • Work with internal departments so as to be able to keep clients fully up to date eg. Product mangers to understand direction of product, timelines etc, Project managers to understand status of launch/upgrade/patch etc

Primary Roles / Responsibilities:

Function as a Release Project Manager.

In this role, you will be overseeing team activities for both the build and deployment engineers, be the liaison between various departments, and manage, develop, and maintain the Build & Deployment process. You will also be responsible for:

  • Responsible for managing the delivery of the software builds, and releases for multiple platforms
  • Directing the team in resolving software configuration management issues
  • Provides direction and expertise for branch creation and management
  • Provides direction and expertise for maintaining the Source Control Versioning system
  • Provides direction and expertise for managing multiple-branches, multiple projects
  • Manage the release process across environments
  • Maintain issue/action items log and report progress on critical issues
  • Attend weekly team meetings on multiple projects and work directly with teams located around the globe
  • Ensure effective controls and compliance for all production changes and access
  • The release project manager plans, organizes and drives deployment of new releases of the Chartwell Gaming System working in tandem with other project managers, engineering managers/leads, operations managers/leads, quality leaders, product managers, and their teams
  • Establishes and operates formal mechanisms to accept hand-off of completed projects for integration and system testing into software release trains
  • Communicate progress of release projects across organizational boundaries and levels from individual contributor to senior executive
  • Implement formal mechanisms to monitor progress, escalate issues, manage risks and control changes agreed upon plans
  • Motivate team members to ensure the prompt delivery of accurate information and issues for resolution
  • Continually drive enhancements to standard operating procedures and tools to improve efficiency, remove roadblocks, increase quality of output and adapting it to scale for explosive growth
  • Works cross functionally to improve application quality, reliability and performance

Required Skills / Competencies:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management processes and tool usage
  • Solid knowledge and experience using a formal software development life cycle
  • 3+ years of experience project managing complex software projects and releases
  • Skilled in team building techniques and meeting mechanics
  • Ability to handle conflicts well, and addresses issues directly
  • MS Windows, Office, Project
  • Proficiency using software version control (CM) systems
  • Issue/ticket tracking systems
  • Highly self-motivated and assertive
  • Organized, master of a million details
  • Pragmatic and creative in solving problems
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Schedule flexibility, releases will require support outside of normal operational hours

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • MS Engineering
  • Project Management Certification
  • Understanding of the industry standard software development methodologies, in particular agile methods
  • Experience in leading software development and release projects as past of a high-volume hosted web application developed in Java running on Unix/Linux
  • Knowledge of formal software control management practices and how to implement
  • Software CM using Win CVS and Subversion
  • Wiki collaboration systems
  • Software deployment with blade logic
  • Networking infrastructure, firewalls, routing, etc.
  • UNIX/Linux system administration
  • Data base administration
